HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team hosts Nicholls for the River Bell Classic and Senior Day, the volleyball team competes in the Southland Conference Tournament, the women's basketball team opens SLC play, while the men's basketball team opens its home schedule during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The No. 21/23 Southeastern football team (8-3, 6-1 SLC) will welcome Nicholls for the 36
th edition of the River Bell Classic Thursday at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.
Thursday will also be Senior Day, as SLU will honor the 2025 senior class of KK Reno, Kaleb Proctor, Brandon Hayes, Khamron Ford, Blayne Delahoussaye, Rodeo Graham Jr., Rowan Briggs, Tyler Mansfield, Jordyn Williams, Luke Besh, Corey Lorio, Jaedon Henry, Ian Conerly-Goodly, Guillermo Garcia Rodriguez, Justin Dumas, Joshua Randall, Noah Devlin, Javin Turner, Dalton Allen, Holden Kareokowsky, Da'Shun Hugley, Jett Booker Cade Collier, Ahmad Bradley and head equipment manager Cade Genovese approximately 40 minutes before kickoff.
With an 8-1 record versus FCS opponents, the Lions have a strong case to be among the FCS playoff field for the sixth time in program history. A win Thursday would further solidify SLU's resume. The NCAA FCS Playoff Selection Show airs Sunday at 11 a.m. on ESPNU.
The SLU volleyball team (20-8, 12-4 SLC) will compete in the Southland Conference Tournament this week in Commerce, Texas. The No. 3 seed Lady Lions will face sixth-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday at 10 a.m. Should Southeastern advance, it would face the winner of No. 2 UTRGV and No. 7 HCU's first round matchup in the semifinals Saturday at 2 p.m.
Saturday's semifinal winners will face off in Sunday's championship match at 2 p.m. The tournament winner will receive the league's automatic berth in the NCAA Championships.
The Lady Lion women's basketball team (1-2) closes out a three-game road swing Tuesday with a 5 p.m. nonconference contest at Southern Miss. SLU returns home Saturday, welcoming East Texas A&M for the league opener Saturday at 1 p.m. in the University Center.
Fans are encouraged to Green Out the UC Saturday and stick around for postgame autographs. Natalie Huff is Saturday's Spotlight Player of the Game, as the first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the San Antonio native, courtesy of PRIDE.
The Southeastern men's basketball team (0-4) opens the home portion of its schedule this week. The Lions welcome William Carey for a 6 p.m. contest Wednesday in the University Center. Fans are encouraged to stick around for postgame autographs following the game.
