NATCHITOCHES, La. – Bente Bierma,
Paige Duncan and
Panatchakorn Suanarsa represented the Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team at the Southland Conference Fall Masters Thursday at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex on the Northwestern State University campus.
Bierma and Duncan opened the day with a first round victory over UIW's Estefania Gonzalez and Ine' Lamprecht, outlasting the Cardinal pair in a grueling 7-6, 6-7, 10-7 win.
Due to expected rain later in the week, Friday's doubles semifinals were moved up a day. Bierma and Duncan dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Yana Mykytyn and Kseniya Ramanouskaya.
In singles play, Suanarsa was matched up with Gonzalez in the opening round. The Lion senior was eliminated following a 6-1, 6-3 loss.
SLU will return to action at the Joe Pyburn Invitational, set for Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Beaumont, Texas.
