HAMMOND, La. –The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team will continue its four-match home stand to open the spring Tuesday, when it hosts UL Lafayette for a 1 p.m. match at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
Southeastern opened the spring with a 5-2 victory over LSU Alexandria Saturday. The Lions took the doubles point with victories by
Bente Bierma and
Panatchakorn Suanarsa on court 1, as well as the pair of
Taisia Bolsova and
Bogi Csordas on No. 3.
In singles play, SLU took four of six matches versus the Generals.
Leana Gomez and
Claudia Di Leonardo each earned straight sets on courts 1 and 4, respectively. Southeastern clinched the victory with
Aitana Darder and Bolsova each rallying from a set down for three-set triumphs on the bottom two singles courts.
UL Lafayette will be opening the spring and is coming off an 8-12 record in 2024. The two teams last met in 2023 in Lafayette with the Ragin' Cajuns earning a 4-3 victory.
UL Lafayette is the first of three in-state foes slated to visit Hammond this week. The Lions will host Grambling Saturday at 1 p.m. and Dillard Sunday at 3 p.m.
