Gr. Thrower Terrell Webb earned his third career SLC Athlete of the Week award, first in indoor competition
FRISCO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University track & field teams earned its first weekly honor of the 2025 season on Wednesday with
Terrell Webb being named the Southland Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced.
Webb, a graduate thrower from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, immediately marked himself as the best weight thrower in the Southland as he looks for back-to-back SLC Championships in the discipline while trying to earn a spot at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
With his third throw of the 2025 season, Webb unleashed a toss of 20.5 meters (67'3.25") to win the weight throw competition at Friday's LSU Purple Tiger by 1.49 meters, or nearly five feet.
That throw vaulted him right into first place in the SLC performance list, besting the conference's current second-best thrower by 2.17 meters, or more than seven feet. After the weekend's action, Webb had the 36
th-best weight throw in all of Division I. He will be looking for continued improvement as he seeks a top-16 throw in order to earn a spot at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
This is Webb's third career SLC Athlete of the Week honor, first during the indoor season.
Webb and the rest of the Lions are back in action on Fri., Feb. 7 at the Birmingham Crossplex to take part in the Vulcan Invitational, hosted by the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
