BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track & field teams earned some big marks in its first meet of the season with four Lions earning medal spots, including Terrell Webb jumping into the top 25 nationally in the weight throw, and 18 setting new personal bests on Friday at the LSU Purple Tiger at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.

The Lions earned two gold medal finishes on the day, but it was Webb's golden performance which had the most national implication. On his third throw in the weight toss competition, the graduate student from Canada unleashed a throw of 20.50 meters (67'3.25") which not only cemented his victory in the discipline on the day, but also gave him the 24th-best weight throw in the nation through the first couple weeks of the indoor season, positioning him for a potential run at a spot in the NCAA Indoor National Championships in March.

Southeastern's other gold-winning performance of the day came on the track as Javon-Taye Williams had the fastest time in the 600-meter dash, setting a new personal best by finishing in 1:19.33.

Donroy Brown took home the lone silver medal of the day in the shot put as his fifth throw of the competition traveled 16.47 meters (54'0.5") which was good enough for second place. Josh-Ty Brown and Porter Gibson both just missed medaling in the event as well with both having their best throw go 15.82 meters (51'11") for a fourth-place tie, just 0.2 meters from making the medal stand. That mark set a new personal best for Gibson in the discipline.

Onyah Favour had the lone medal-winning performance for the Lady Lions on Friday. She ran the 600-meter dash in a personal best time of 1:38.45, good for third place and a bronze medal.

Other personal bests set by SLU athletes on the day included Josh Anding (7.39) and Ian McAlpine (7.61) in the 60-meter dash on the men's side while Marvellous Asemota (7.52), Favour (7.69), Miriam Kauer (7.92), and DaNina Sorapuru (8.14) accomplished the same feat on the women's side in that distance.

McAlpine and Asemota both set second personal bests on the day in the 400-meter dash. McAlpine ran a 52.86 while Asemota clocked a 59.96.

While Favour was winning bronze in the 600-meter dash with a new PB, Esther Nwanze, 1:40.46, and Sorapuru, 1:44.03, were resetting their own personal bests as well.
