HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team will return to action this week, competing in the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The first two rounds start Monday at 8 a.m. with Tuesday's final round set for 8 a.m. Live scoring, provided by host Arkansas State, will be accessible via the golf schedule page at
www.LionSports.net.
Southeastern will be paired with Southland Conference rivals New Orleans and Nicholls, as well as Eastern Illinois for Monday's first two rounds. Host ASU will be among the 15-team field taking on the 6,565-yard, par 72 course, along with Oklahoma Christian, Austin Peay, Texas State, Lindenwood, Jacksonville State, Murray State, UT Martin, Evansville, Texas A&M-Commerce and Southern Indiana.
The Lions finished seventh in their fall opener – the Grover Page Classic – Sept. 16-17 in Jackson, Tennessee. In his Southeastern debut, freshman
Viggo Hed finished in third place with a tournament score of seven-under par. Teammate
Griffin Dorr joined him in red numbers, carding a one-under par score in the season opener.
Hed and Dorr will be a part of the SLU starting five, along with veterans
Patrick Blaum and
Colby Sullivan. Freshman
Preston Paulk will make his collegiate debut for the Lions to round out the Southeastern starters.
This week's tournament will be the second of four this fall for Southeastern. Following this week's competition, SLU will head to Mathews, Louisiana to compete in the LaTour Intercollegiate, hosted by Nicholls Oct. 21-22.
