SLU Wraps up Play at Grover Page Classic

Southeastern finishes two-under par for opening tournament of 2024-25

JACKSON, Tenn. – Freshman Viggo Hed finished third in the individual standings to lead the Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team at the Grover Page Classic, which wrapped up Tuesday at the Jackson Country Club.
 
Southeastern finished its opening tournament of the 2024-25 season with a two-day score of 574 (-2) – good for a tie for seventh in the standings. After shooting nine-under par on Monday, the Lions finished with a seven-over par 295 on Tuesday. SIU Edwardsville shot 12-under par over the final 18 holes to pull away for a three-stroke victory.
 
Hed, a native of Halmstad, Sweden, was excellent in his collegiate debut. After carding a 66 in Monday's opening round, Hed backed it up with a one-under par 71 to finish seven-under in his first tournament in the green and gold.
 
Griffin Dorr (-1, T24th) joined Hed to give SLU two players under par for the tournament. Landen East (+2, T41st), Patrick Blaum (+8, T75th) and Colby Sullivan (+10, T87th) rounded out the Southeastern starters.
 
Noah Bumgarner (+6, T60th) represented the Lions as an individual. SIUE's Brady Kaufmann posted a 65 Tuesday to finish 11-under par for the tournament and earn individual medalist honors.
 
The Grover Page Classic was the first of four fall tournaments on tap for SLU. Southeastern will return to action Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate in at Ridgepointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
