HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics will help students and fans gear up for the 2024-25 athletic season with a pair of long-standing annual events in August.
 
Olive Garden of Hammond presents Strawberry Jam for SLU students on Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Southeastern will once again host Lionpawlooza at Cate Square Aug. 24 at 4:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Hammond Downtown Development District's Hot August Stroll.
 
Strawberry Jam is open to Southeastern students only. Lion and Lady Lion student-athletes, the Spirit of the Southland band, as well as the cheerleaders and Lionnette dance team will "Storm the Dorms" at 5:30 p.m. leading students into Strawberry Stadium for the event.
 
At the Strawberry Jam pep rally, students will hear from the SLU soccer, football and reigning Southland Conference champion indoor volleyball teams, as well as enjoy performances by Southeastern's national champion spirit squads and the Spirit of the Southland band and drumline.
 
Games and other interactive activities will be available for entertainment. Presenting sponsor Olive Garden of Hammond will provide free food to Southeastern students in attendance and students will receive a free t-shirt.
 
The entire community is invited to join the Lions and Lady Lions for Lionpawlooza. The community pep rally opens with performances by the Spirit of the Southland band and spirit squads. Fans will hear from the football, indoor volleyball and soccer teams and will have the chance to interact with student-athletes from those teams, as well as the women's basketball team.
 
Southeastern's first athletic competition of the 2024-25 season is set for Aug. 16 when the SLU women's soccer team hosts Grambling at 7 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.
