HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football, indoor volleyball and cross country teams open their respective seasons, the soccer team hits the road for the first time this fall and the 2024 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo debuts during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The SLU football team (0-0) will open its season on the road, traveling to Tulane (0-0) for a 7 p.m. contest Thursday in Yulman Stadium. Southeastern Athletics Marketing and Student Promotions is offering SLU students an opportunity to travel to Tulane. Students wanting to make the ride to the Big Easy can pay their $5 deposit reserving their spot on the bus at the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office. The deposit will be refunded on the day of the trip. Those on the bus trip will receive free food and a ticket to the game versus the Green Wave.
 
The reigning Southland Conference champion Lady Lion indoor volleyball team (0-0) starts its 2024 season this week, heading to Provo, Utah to compete in the doTERRA Classic, hosted by No. 16 BYU. SLU opens the tournament Friday with a 1 p.m. contest versus the hosts, before facing High Point later in the day at 5:30 p.m. Saturday will see SLU close tournament play with a 5 p.m. contest versus Fairfield.
 
The Southeastern cross country teams will be in New Orleans to open their seasons Friday at the Battle for New Orleans. The women's 4K race starts at 5:15 p.m. with the men tackling the 5K course at 5:45 p.m.
 
The SLU women's soccer team (0-1-1) will be on the road for the first time in 2024, traveling to Jackson State. Friday's match with the Tigers kicks off at 3 p.m. in Jackson, Mississippi.

All of this week's football and volleyball action can be seen on ESPN+. Friday's soccer match will air on the Jackson State Sports Network (paid subscription required). Thursday's football game will be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
 
The 2024 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo debuts Tuesday at 7 p.m. from Brady's in downtown Hammond. Following the debut episode, the show will air on Mondays throughout the season with Scelfo and host Allen Waddell discussing all things Lion Football on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
 
Lane Daniel of the LionUp Collective will be the first Community Spotlight guest of the season for Tuesday's show.
