HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University soccer team returns to the pitch, fans will have the opportunity to get their first look at the reigning Southland Conference champion Lady Lion indoor volleyball team, while SLU Athletics hosts Strawberry Jam, Lionpawlooza and the Football Season Ticket Pickup Party during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The SLU soccer team (0-0-1) will be looking for its first win of 2024 when it hosts South Alabama Sunday at 1 p.m. at Strawberry Stadium. Fans will have the opportunity to receive postgame autographs from their favorite Lady Lions following Sunday's match.
The conference champion Southeastern indoor volleyball team will host the intrasquad Green and Gold match Saturday at 11 a.m. in the University Center.
Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics will help students and fans gear up for the 2024-25 athletic season with a pair of long-standing annual events this week.
Olive Garden of Hammond presents Strawberry Jam for SLU students on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Southeastern will once again host Lionpawlooza at Cate Square Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Hammond Downtown Development District's Hot August Stroll.
Strawberry Jam is open to Southeastern students only. Lion and Lady Lion student-athletes, the Spirit of the Southland band, as well as the cheerleaders and Lionnette dance team will "Storm the Dorms" at 5:30 p.m. leading students into Strawberry Stadium for the event.
At the Strawberry Jam pep rally, students will hear from the SLU soccer, football and reigning Southland Conference champion indoor volleyball teams, as well as enjoy performances by Southeastern's national champion spirit squads and the Spirit of the Southland band and drumline.
Games and other interactive activities will be available for entertainment. Presenting sponsor Olive Garden of Hammond will provide free food to Southeastern students in attendance and students will receive a free t-shirt.
The entire community is invited to join the Lions and Lady Lions for Lionpawlooza. The community pep rally opens with performances by the Spirit of the Southland band and spirit squads. Fans will hear from the football, indoor volleyball and soccer teams and will have the chance to interact with student-athletes from those teams, as well as the women's basketball team.
Football season ticket holders will have a chance to pick up their tickets for the 2024 home season at the Season Ticket Pickup Party Saturday at Strawberry Stadium from 9-11 a.m.
The season ticket pickup party will be held in the West Stadium concourse and refreshments will be served. Fans wanting to purchase season tickets will also have the opportunity to do so.
SLU opens its six-game home schedule Sept. 14, hosting Eastern Washington. Two-time defending national champion South Dakota State visits Hammond, America Sept. 21, followed by Southland Conference opponents Texas A&M-Commerce (Oct. 5), Stephen F. Austin (Oct. 19 – Homecoming), UIW (Oct. 26) and Northwestern State (Nov. 9).

Sunday's soccer match and the entire SLU home soccer schedule will be televised on ESPN+.
