Jr. OPP Alexis Logarbo earned SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll honors as a member of both the indoor & beach volleyball squads
HAMMOND, La. –The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) awarded both the defending Southland Conference Champion Southeastern Louisiana University indoor volleyball team as well as the beach volleyball team with its 2024 Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, on Wednesday.
Southeastern's two teams join more than 1,400 other collegiate and high school volleyball programs to be honored by the AVCA for their work in the classroom to keep a year-long team grade point average of at least a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale during the recently completed 2023-24 academic year.
At the end of the fall semester, 18 members of the SLC Champion SLU indoor volleyball team were honored on the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll while 11 Lady Lions of the beach squad earned the same distinction following the spring semester. Nine members from both squads finished the year with a GPA of 3.5 or greater.
The success in the follows very successful seasons on both the hardwood and sand as well as both teams either tied to bested its single season wins totals, both in Southland Conference play and overall.
The SLU indoor volleyball team kicks off its season with the green & gold scrimmage on Aug. 24 at the University Center before beginning the regular season in earnest on Aug. 30 in Provo, Utah at the doTERRA Classic, taking on host BYU & High Point. The Lady Lions beach squad begins its fall scrimmages in October with its regular season kicking off in January.
