All Four Continue Multi-Year Runs as All-Academic Recipients

FRISCO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field team added more honors, this time for work in the classroom, as Slavko Stevic was named the Southland Conference's Student-Athlete of the Year for the indoor season while Terrell Webb, Esther Nwanze, and Lara Zupanc joined him on the SLC All-Academic Team, the conference office announced on Thursday.

Stevic, a senior jumper from Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia, was named the SLC Student-Athlete of the Year for the indoor season for the second-straight season after continuing to dominate the high jump competition. He won his seventh and eighth career Conference Championships in the high jump this season, making it four titles each in indoor and outdoor competition. He finished the season with the 17th-best high jump in all of Division I in indoor competition and the 15th-best high jump in the nation during outdoor competition. He did that while maintaining a 3.976 GPA in computer science. This is Stevic's fourth-career SLC All-Academic honor.

Webb, graduate thrower from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, was also a champion in both the field and in the classroom. He took home his second career SLC Championship in the hammer throw during the outdoor season, adding that to his first SLC Title in the weight throw which he won during the indoor season. He qualified for the NCAA Outdoor First Round in the hammer throw and earned a SLC Field Athlete of the Week honor during the season. He earned those accolades all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA as a graduate student in sport management. This is Webb's third-career SLC All-Academic award.

Nwanze, a junior sprinter from Baton Rouge, had two record-breaking performances during the season. She helped reset the SLC women's indoor 4x400-meter relay record at the Bulldog Invitational as the team broke the old mark with a time of 3:45.21. She then broke the school outdoor 400-meter hurdle record at the SLC Championships with a time of 57.52 seconds on her way to a silver medal finish and earning a spot in the NCAA Outdoor Championships First Round where she would advance to the national quarterfinal. She also won a silver medal in the 400-meter dash at the SLC Indoor Championships, doing all of that while maintaining a 3.913 GPA in integrative biology. This is Nwanze's first career SLC All-Academic Honor.

Zupanc, a graduate pole vaulter from Krsko, Slovenia, had fourth-place finishes in both the SLC Indoor & Outdoor Championships. Her best pole vault of the season came at the SLC Indoor Championships, where she cleared 3.70 meters (12'1.5"). She even dabbled in the high jump and triple jump, setting personal bests in both of those disciplines at the Pelican Relays. Made those marks on the season while maintaining a 4.0 GPA as she pursues a master's degree in psychology. This is Zupanc's second-career SLC All-Academic award.
