HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team's Andrea Da Silva was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Team Tuesday afternoon, in an announcement by the conference office.
 
Da Silva, a native of Andorra la Vella, Andorra, claimed this honor in her first season with the Lady Lions. The junior transfer adds this accomplishment to her collection of awards gained this season including All-Conference Second Team Pairs and Pair of the Week.
 
Southeastern closed out the 2024 season with its best record in program history finishing with a 13-19 overall record and 4-4 in conference play. Da Silva, a part of SLU's top pair alongside partner Rachel Hartmann, secured the most wins in program history with a record of 23-9 this season. The pair also held a 71.9 winning percentage to end the year.
 
To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average through the semester prior to the sport's championship, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating school prior to the current season, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have held at least a 3.5 GPA and have completed at least two years of athletic competition at the nominating school, including the current season.
