HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team will host the 2024 North Oaks Health System Southland Conference Baseball Championship, while five members of the SLU track and field teams will compete in the NCAA East Preliminary Round during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The SLU baseball team (28-26) will be the No. 6 seed in the eight-team tournament field and will face New Orleans Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The double-elimination tournament runs through Saturday with the winner receiving the SLC's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Five members of the Southeastern track and field program will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Round this week in Lexington, Kentucky. Terrell Webb (hammer throw), Gabriel Lim (javelin), Donroy Brown (javelin), Onyah Favour (400 meters) and Esther Nwanze (400-meter hurdles). A top-12 finish this week earns a chance to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships, scheduled for June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon.
