HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University juniors Andrea Da Silva and Rachel Hartmann were named Southland Pair of the Week, in an announcement from the conference Tuesday afternoon.
 
Da Silva, a native of Andorra la Vella, Andorra, and Hartmann, a native of Slidell, Louisiana, are the first Lady Lions this season to claim SLC weekly honors. The weekly award is the first of the pair's career.
 
Southeastern's top pair secured 4-2 matches last week on the road in California. The pair won all four matches with dominating two sets to help the Lady Lions gain some momentum throughout the week. Da Silva and Hartmann stand as SLU's strongest pair with an overall record of 21-5 this season. Saturday's match in the Waves Tournament was highlighted by the pair's 21-18, 21-8 win over Concordia University Irvine to help Southeastern attain a 4-1 victory over the Eagles. Da Silva and Hartmann capped the weekend with a two-match winning streak.
 
SLU will return to the sand to compete in the Battle on the Bayou April 12-13. Southeastern will take on ULM Friday morning at 10 a.m. before facing Jacksonville at 4 p.m. to end day one. The Lady Lions will rematch conference rival New Orleans at 9:15 a.m. before battling LSU Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. to close out the weekend.
