THIBODAUX, La – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Nicholls in Southland Conference action Friday afternoon at the Thibodaux Regional Tennis Center.
 
After dropping the doubles point, Southeastern (9-10, 2-4) won five of six singles matches to claim its second straight SLC road win. Nicholls fell to 6-11 overall and 0-6 in league play.
 
"Nicholls is much stronger than its record and took it to us in doubles," Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes said. "We had to recover and fight for every point in singles. This was a tough win and can help us continue to build momentum towards the Southland Conference Tournament."
 
Nicholls took doubles wins on courts 2 and 3 to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Colonels' lone victory in singles play came on the No. 5 court.
 
Three Southeastern freshmen picked up singles victories Friday. Leana Gomez (7-7, 3-2 SLC) earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Carla Bouygues on the No. 1 singles court. On No. 4, Claudia Di Leonardo (4-9, 3-3 SLC) handled Adda Inna, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1.
 
Taisia Bolsova (6-4, 2-1 SLC) was too much for Noemie Piquet on the No. 6 court, earning a 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 victory. SLU's Kate Oborina (8-3, 2-3 SLC) and Bente Bierma (9-7, 2-2 SLC) both saw their opponents retire on the No. 2 and 3 courts, respectively.
 
Southeastern will close out the regular season at New Orleans with a 3 p.m. league match Monday.
