FRISCO, Texas –Southeastern Louisiana University track and field team member Slavko Stevic earned yet another conference weekly honor as he was named the Southland Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his golden performance at the Strawberry Relays.
 
Stevic, a senior from Sresmka Mitrovica, Serbia, continued to prove his dominance in the high jump competition as he won the discipline on the day where he was honored as a senior at the Southeastern Track Complex. He took home the top prize by clearing 2.18 meters (7'1.75").
 
While his jump at the Strawberry Relays wasn't his best of the season, it was still the second-highest jump in the Southland this season, only behind his jump at the Louisiana Classics a month ago when he cleared 2.19 meters (7'2.25"). Not only is that jump still the best in the SLC, but it still has him seated third on the East Regional Qualifying list, fourth in the South-Central Region, and is the eighth-best high jump in all of Division I so far this outdoor season.
 
This is Stevic's second Athlete of the Week honor this season, joining an award he got back in January during the indoor season. This is also his second Athlete of the Week award during an outdoor season, having gotten his first Outdoor Athlete of the Week honor last April, marking this as his third SLC Athlete of the Week award of his illustrious career.
 
Stevic and the rest of the Lions head back to Baton Rouge for the third time in the 2024 outdoor track & field season to take part in the LSU Alumni Gold meet, which kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium. Live results of the meet will be available through the host institution.
