HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University Beach Volleyball team will begin its run in the 2024 Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship against HCU Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. hosted at the Third Coast in Houston, Texas.
 
Sixth seed Southeastern (12-17, 4-4 SLC) opens the weekend with a rematch against third seed HCU (10-21, 5-2 SLC) to end the midday matchups. Live stats can be accessed on the beach volleyball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
 
In its last regular season tournament, SLU finished with a 1-3 record in the Battle on the Bayou. The Lady Lions started day one with a 4-1 loss to ULM before suffering a 5-0 sweep to Jacksonville to close out the day. Southeastern returned to the sand Saturday morning with 4-1 victory over conference foe New Orleans before ending the weekend with a 5-0 loss to No. 9 LSU. SLU's top pair Andrea Da Silva and Rachel Hartmann sparked some momentum for the Lady Lions with a seven-match winning streak earlier in the season. The pair stands with an overall record of 22-8 this season and was named to the SLC All-Conference Second Team Pairs.
 
HCU is returning to the sand with a two-match winning streak after defeating Stephen F. Austin 4-1 at home before shutting out Tarleton with a 5-0 victory last week. The Huskies enter the tournament only losing to second seed Boise State (28-11, 6-1 SLC) and No.1 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (24-8, 7-0 SLC) during conference play.
 
With an upset win over HCU, SLU will survive and advance to compete against the winner of second seed Boise State and seventh seed McNeese (3-20, 1-6 SLC) at 4 p.m. to close out day one. With a loss to HCU, Southeastern will return to the sand Saturday at 9 a.m. for an elimination match against the losing team of Boise State and McNeese.
 
The 2024 Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship Tournament starts at 9 a.m. Friday with the Championship match starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21. All matches of the tournament will be held at the Third Coast in Houston, Texas.
