Eight Lions Seniors Set to be Honored During Meet

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field team gets to enjoy a weekend at home as it prepares to host the 2024 Strawberry Relays on Friday at the Southeastern Track Complex.

Friday's Strawberry Relays are set to kick off at 9 a.m. with several field events opening while the steeplechase will also start to begin action on the track for the day. Live results for the event will be available through Crescent City Timing.

With a numerous athletes set to return to action after a week off following the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, the Strawberry Relays promises to showcase the top tier of the SLU squad making one of their final runs for the top of the conference performance lists ahead of the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships, which are just four weeks away. Eight of those athletes will be looking to make a lasting impression in their final home meet as Southeastern will honor eight seniors at noon.

Among the seniors who will be going for glory in their final Strawberry Relays will be Terrell Webb and Slavko Stevic, both of whom are set for multiple events, including their stalwart disciplines. Webb will take part in the hammer throw as he tries to consolidate his lead in the Southland in that event while Stevic is set to jump in the high jump with eyes on resetting the SLU outdoor high jump record, his personal best, and the Southeastern Track Complex facility record, all of which he set at last year's Strawberry Relays when he cleared 2.22 meters (7'3.25"). The other seniors being honored on Friday include pole vaulter Lara Zupanc, sprinters Indya Jackson, Dardlie Lefevre, Porsha Miles, and Xavier Madden, and distance runner Euan Lagan.

Among other Lions looking to add to their top performances include Esther Nwanze in the 200 and 400-meter sprints as well as competing in the 4x400-meter relay. Donroy Brown, Micha Miller, and Gabriel Lim will all look to improve their standings in the different throws events. Lance Hamilton and Stan Hamilton will look to better their marks near the top of the conference in the jumps for distance.

The 2024 Strawberry Relays will again kick off at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Southeastern Track Complex with both the discus and shot put to start the day on the field while the 3,000-meter steeplechase also begins the track portion of the schedule at that same time. Live timing will be available through Crescent City Timing.
