HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University Beach Volleyball team travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to compete in the annual Battle on the Bayou this weekend at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
 
SLU (11-14, 3-4 SLC) opens the weekend seeking to compound its winning streak after defeating Concordia University Irvine 4-1 on day two of the Waves Tournament. Southeastern was battle tested on the road and closed out the previous week with a 2-4 record in California. Juniors Andrea Da Silva and Rachel Hartmann claimed Pair of the Week with an overall record of 21-5 and seeking to extend their two-match winning streak. Da Silva and Hartmann ended the tournament with a 4-2 record over opponents, with all four wins secured through a two-set advantage.
 
The Lady Lions return to action Friday morning at 10 a.m. against ULM (13-11, 1-4) to kick off day one before facing Jacksonville (11-14, 0-4) at 4 p.m. The Warhawks split last weekend 2-2 in the Sacramento State Tournament, gaining a 5-0 sweep over Pacific to end the weekend. Jacksonville is looking to extend its three-match winning streak after defeating St. Johns River 5-0 at home.
 
SLU will open serve for day two taking on conference rival New Orleans (10-17, 3-7 SLC) for the third time this season at 9:15 a.m. Saturday afternoon, Southeastern will close out the tournament against the home standing No. 9 LSU Tigers (16-9) at 2 p.m. New Orleans is looking to secure a win on the road to counter its six-match losing streak after falling to Tulane and McNeese in the Bayou Beach Duals. The Tigers stand 6-3 at home this season, looking to remain in the winning category after gaining a 4-1 victory over Florida Gulf Coast in the GSU Diggin' Duals. LSU closed out the tournament 3-1 on the road to end the weekend.
 
Concluding Saturday's match, the Lady Lions will move on to compete in the Southland Beach Volleyball Championship Tournament April 18-22 in Houston, Texas. All matches will be played at Third Coast.
