SLU Hosts Jackson State for Youth Sports Night

Southeastern (28-7) welcomes Lady Tigers (20-9) for 4 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team returns home to host Jackson State for a 4 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at North Oak Park.
 
Tuesday's games between the Lady Lions (28-7) and the visiting Lady Tigers (20-9) will be televised on ESPN+. Tuesday is Youth Sports Night, as kids eight grade and under will receive free admission by wearing their team's uniform, while kids can also stand with the Lady Lions during the national anthem.
 
Southeastern enters Tuesday's action on a five-game winning streak. SLU earned a three-game series sweep at Pacific and a 10-2 victory at Santa Clara on a 4-0 trip to California.
 
The Lady Lions enter the week with a .354 batting average, which is the seventh-highest in Division I. Bailey Krolczyk leads the team with a .439 batting average, followed by Ka'Lyn Watson (.396), Maria Detillier (.396), Colleen Kulivan (.360) and Chloe Magee (.356). Ka'Lyn Watson and Magee share team-high honors with 29 runs and 13 stolen bases each.
 
Krolczyk, who was named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week Monday, also paces the roster with 14 doubles, four triples and 32 RBI. Lexi Johnson leads the team with five home runs.
 
Southeastern also leads the SLC and is 12th nationally with a 1.81 team earned run average. Cera Blanchard (10-1, 1.24 ERA, 4 saves), Ellie DuBois (9-3, 1.53 ERA), Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux (3-2, 2.40 ERA, 1 save), Chloe Bennett (3-1, 3.23 ERA, 1 save) and Allison Brunson (3-0, 1.54 ERA) have all been effective in the circle for SLU.
 
The Lady Lion staff will be facing a Jackson State lineup that is hitting .254 as a team. Jace Jackson leads JSU with a .393 batting average and 28 RBI. Victoria Salazar (9-4, 2.91 ERA) is the ace of the Jackson State staff, which has a 4.33 team ERA.
 
Following Tuesday's twin bill, Southeastern will head to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a three-game Southland Conference series. The Lady Lions and Islanders will meet Friday in a noon doubleheader, followed by a noon contest Saturday. The series will be televised on ESPN+.
