HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team defended its home court with two wins Saturday afternoon in the program's first Southeastern Invitational to close out the weekend.
 
Southeastern (6-3, 2-0 SLC) opened early in the afternoon with a 3-2 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville to set the momentum in day two. The Lady Lions' top pair Andrea Da Silva and Rachel Hartmann gained a two-set advantage over the Javelinas while sophomore Mia McKinney and freshman Mia Sauers finished 21-17 and 21-14 in the first matchup.
 
SLU extended its six-game winning streak after defeating Spring Hill for the second time of the season with a 5-0 sweep to close out the weekend undefeated. Three out of two matches were decided by two sets to display Southeastern's dominance in the sand. The Lady Lions controlled all five matches as sophomore Alexis Logarbo and junior Maddie Shepston bumped to pair two with 21-18 and 21-15 advantage over the Badgers.

Southeastern will move on to host its inaugural Sugar Beach Bash March 15-16 in Youngsville, La. The Lady Lions welcome Boise State, Stephen F. Austin, South Carolina and Southern Miss for the two-day event. SLU will face up against conference opponent Boise State Friday morning at 11 a.m. before returning to the sand at 5 p.m. to take on Stephen F. Austin to close out day one. All matches will be played at the Youngsville Sports Complex Sugar Beach Facility.
