HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team concludes the home portion of its 2023-24 schedule this week with a pair of matches at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
SLU (6-9, 0-3 SLC) welcomes St. Thomas (6-7) Wednesday for a 2:45 p.m. match to close out its nonconference home schedule. Northwestern State (8-5, 1-1 SLC) visits Hammond Saturday for an 11 a.m. match.
Southeastern is led in singles victories by the pair of
Bente Bierma (6-6) and
Kate Oborina (6-2). The Lions have used seven different doubles teams with the new pairs of
Alba Perez and
Taisia Bolsova, as well as
Panatchakorn Suanarsa and
Bogi Csordas, both teaming for 3-1 records.
St. Thomas comes to town after taking on Southern Tuesday in Baton Rouge. The Tommies are led by Yinong Ma, who has a team-best 10-3 singles record and has paired with Olivia Paradise for a 7-2 doubles mark.
Northwestern State comes to town after facing league leader McNeese Tuesday. The Lady Demons are led in singles play by Sofi Garcia, who enters the week with a 9-4 dual-match record. Ayu Ishibashi and Honoka Umeda boast a team-best 5-3 doubles record.
Following this week's action, Southeastern will close out the regular season with three SLC road matches. The Lions will travel to Lamar (April 1, 1 p.m.), Nicholls (April 3, 2 p.m.) and New Orleans (April 8, 3 p.m.).
