SLU Heads to West Coast for Five-Game Road Trip

Southeastern faces Pacific Wednesday and Thursday, Santa Clara Friday

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will take a break from Southland Conference play this week, traveling to California for a five-game road swing.
 
Southeastern (24-7) will open the week with a three-game series at Pacific (10-22). The Lady Lions and Tigers will meet in a 6 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday and a 6 p.m. single game Thursday. SLU will be at Santa Clara (18-12) for an 11 a.m. doubleheader Friday. All game times are Central and all five games will air on ESPN+.
 
Southeastern is coming off a 3-1 week that it capped by winning its 12th consecutive Southland Conference series, taking two of three from HCU.
 
The Lady Lions head to the Golden State boasting a .347 batting average. Bailey Krolczyk has taken over the team lead with a .424 batting average, followed by Ka'Lyn Watson (.411), Maria Detillier (.378), Maddie Watson (.377) and Chloe Magee (.356). Magee leads SLU with 26 runs scored, while Ka'Lyn Watson has a team-high 12 stolen bases and 37 hits.
 
Lexi Johnson paces the Southeastern roster with five home runs, while Detillier sits atop the league leaderboard with 27 RBI. Krolczyk tops the squad with nine doubles and four triples.
 
Five SLU pitchers have combined for a 1.84 team earned run average. Cera Blanchard (10-1, 1.33 ERA, 3 saves) is the Southland Conference leader in wins, saves and ERA, as she and Ellie DuBois (8-3, 1.57 ERA) have handled the majority of the starting work in the circle. Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux (2-2, 2.69 ERA), Chloe Bennett (2-1, 2.41 ERA, 1 save) and Allison Brunson (2-0, 1.98 ERA) have also been effective for the Lady Lions.
 
Pacific is hitting .259 as a team and the Tigers are led by Olivia Silvestre (.389, 13 RBI) and Rian Dirmeyer (.309, 5 HR, 13 RBI). Vanessa Strong (0-6, 3.82 ERA) and Avery Croxall (3-2, 1.29 ERA, 2 saves) have pitched the most innings for a Pacific staff that has a 4.35 team ERA.
 
Santa Clara has a .284 team batting average entering the week. Bailey McLaughlin is hitting .341, while Morgan Salmon has a team-high five home runs and 30 RBI. Hannah Edwards (8-2, 3.52 ERA) is the ace of a Santa Clara staff that carries a 3.74 team ERA.
 
Following the California trip, Southeastern will return home to host Jackson State in a 4 p.m. nonconference doubleheader April 2 at North Oak Park with both games scheduled to air on ESPN+. Kids in eight grade or lower can wear their jerseys to the doubleheader to receive free admission for Youth Sports Night and kids are invited to join the Lady Lions on the field for the national anthem.
