HAMMOND, La. – After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University softball team to a three-game series sweep of Texas A&M-Commerce, senior infielder Lexi Johnson was named the Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Hitter of the Week in an announcement from the league office Monday.
 
Johnson is the fourth SLU player to receive weekly honors from the SLC this spring, joining Bailey Krolczyk (Feb. 12), Ellie DuBois (Feb. 19) and Maddie Watson (March 4). The weekly honor is the fourth career award received by Johnson, who previously won Hitter of the Week twice in 2023 and once in 2022.
 
Johnson hit .778 with six runs and seven RBI for the weekend, as SLU outscored the host Lions, 45-1, on the way to its 11^th consecutive Southland series win. The Reserve, Louisiana native was 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the series-opening 14-0 win Friday, then closed the series with another three-RBI showing in Saturday's 14-1 victory in the series finale.
 
Johnson is batting .300 and is one of seven SLU starters hitting .300 or higher for a Lady Lion squad that boasts a .351 team batting average. Johnson leads the team with four home runs to go with two triples and 18 RBI.
 
Southeastern will close out a four-game road swing Wednesday with a 6 p.m. contest at ULM.
