HAMMOND, La. – Spain's Aitana Darder has chosen to continue her academic and athletic endeavors as a member of the Southeastern Louisiana University tennis program, Southeastern head tennis coach Jason Hayes announced Thursday.
 
Darder, who hails from Valencia, Spain, will join the Lions for the 2024-25 season and plans to major in computer science at SLU.
 
"Aitana represents what we look for during the recruiting process," Hayes commented. "She's a hard worker with great results who wants to improve and be part of a team. We're excited to add Aitana to our program."
 
Darder is currently ranked No. 153 in Spain and has had success at several tournaments. The newest Lion won the Master Champions Bowl in back-to-back years. In doubles play, she most recently advanced to the finals at the Championship CV.
 
Darder will join a young Lion roster that continues to improve with more experience. Darder's future teammates will return to the court March 23 for a 2 p.m. match at Southland Conference foe McNeese.
