HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will open the road portion of its Southland Conference schedule with a three-game series at Texas A&M-Commerce this week.
 
The series between SLU (18-6, 2-1 SLC) and the host Lions (5-22, 0-3 SLC) opens with a 5 p.m. doubleheader Friday and concludes with a noon contest Saturday. All three games will be televised on ESPN+ and live stats, provided by TAMU-C, will be accessible via the softball schedule page on LionSports.net.
 
Southeastern opened Southland Conference play by taking two of three from UIW last weekend. The Lady Lions have now won 10 consecutive league series dating back to the 2022 season.
 
SLU carries a .329 team batting average into this weekend's three-game set. Maddie Watson leads Southeastern with a .439 batting average, followed by Ka'Lyn Watson (.420), Maria Detillier (.377), Chloe Magee (.375) and Bailey Krolczyk (.375).
 
Krolzczyk and Lexi Johnson share the team lead with three home runs and two triples. Detillier tops the squad with 21 RBI, while Maddie Watson's five doubles lead SLU. Magee paces the roster with nine stolen bases and 20 runs scored.
 
Five Lady Lion pitchers have combined for a 2.01 team earned run average and a .200 opposing batting average. Cera Blanchard (7-1, 1.43 ERA, 2 saves), Ellie DuBois (5-2, 1.76 ERA), Mary-Cathyrn (MC) Comeaux (2-2, 3.00 ERA), Chloe Bennett (2-1, 2.72 ERA, 1 save) and Allison Brunson (2-0, 1.54 ERA) have all been effective in the circle for Southeastern.
 
The SLU pitchers will be facing a Texas A&M-Commerce lineup that enters the series with a .205 team batting average. Tehya Pitts leads the Lions with a .313 batting average, while Diamond Sefe has a team-high two home runs.
 
In the circle, TAMU-C has a 5.66 team ERA and opponents are hitting .309 off the Lion staff. Julia Sanchez (3-6, 4.39 ERA), Anissa Arredondo (0-3, 5.29 ERA, 1 save) and Maddie Muller (2-9, 6.51 ERA) are the primary arms for Texas A&M-Commerce.
 
The series will be the start of a four-game road swing for Southeastern. Following this weekend's action, SLU will head to ULM for a 6 p.m. contest.
