HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University Beach Volleyball team travels to Thibodaux, La. Saturday morning for two matches to compete in the Nicholls Beach Tournament.
 
The Lady Lions (1-3) will open serve at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday against conference rival New Orleans (2-2) before returning to the sand at 1:30 p.m. to face Mary Hardin-Baylor (5-2) to close out the tournament.
 
SLU came up empty handed on day one of its season opener against the Tulane Green Wave and North Alabama. Southeastern would regroup on day two with a close 2-3 decision against power five opponent Oregon before gaining its first win with a dominant 4-1 victory over Spring Hill College. The Lady Lions have already been battle tested against high-caliber teams and are looking to compound their winning streak.
 
Southeastern's top pair of Andrea Da Silva and Rachel Hartmann finished 3-1 last weekend to spark a competitive edge for the Lady Lions. The pair defeated the home team Tulane and Spring Hill College in a down to wire three set match before knocking off Oregon with a commanding two set advantage. Sophomore Mia McKinney and freshman Mia Sauers also picked up two wins as the number two pair against Oregon and Spring Hill with both matches decided through two sets.
 
After Saturday's matches, the Lady Lions will return home to host its first Southeastern Invitational in program history starting March 8. Southeastern will face Central Arkansas Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. before returning to compete against McNeese at 5 p.m. SLU will start off day two against Texas A&M-Kingsville at 1 p.m. March 9 then close out the tournament in a rematch against Spring Hill College 5 p.m.
