HAMMOND, La. – The spring portion of the 2023-24 Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics season is in full swing in February and SLU Athletics has plenty of off-the-field activities planned for the coming month.
 
The reigning SLC champion women's basketball team will host Lamar Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Pride Roofing University Center and Jen Pierre will be the Spotlight Player of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Springfield, Louisiana native, courtesy of PRIDE.
 
The Lady Lions will welcome HCU to the Pride Roofing University Center Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. for the Dads and Daughters game. All fathers and daughters are invited to help make up the pregame tunnel and daughters under the age of 15 will receive free admission. Taylor Bell is the Spotlight Player of the Game for Feb. 17 and the first 150 fans will receive trading cards featuring the Shreveport, Louisiana native, courtesy of PRIDE.
 
The Feb. 17 men's basketball game versus HCU at 3:30 p.m. will be Family and Alumni Day. All former Lion basketball players are invited to be recognized at halftime. Tangi Tourism will serve as the game sponsor for the Feb. 17 doubleheader.
 
The weekend of Feb. 16-18 will see the SLU baseball team host Tarleton State for a three-game series at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field and the Southeastern softball team welcome Syracuse, Maryland and Southeast Missouri to North Oak Park for the Lion Classic.
 
Every Saturday at both baseball and softball home games, fans will have the opportunity to win prizes by playing Bingo at the Ballpark. Sundays at baseball will be military appreciation days throughout the season and military personnel can present their military ID to receive free admission.
 
The final Saturday home hoops doubleheader of 2023-24 is set for Feb. 24 with New Orleans coming to town. The women's basketball senior class of Kennedy Paul, Daija Harvey and Hailey Giaratano will be honored prior to the team's 1 p.m. game with First Guaranty Bank serving as the game sponsor. The men's contest versus the visiting Privateers at 3:30 p.m. will be sponsored by North Oaks Health System.
 
The Feb. 28 baseball game versus Mississippi Valley State will feature Youth Sports Night at the Pat. Children in the 8^th grade or lower can receive free admission by wearing their team jersey.
 
The final full month of Inside Southeastern Basketball with David Kiefer will continue every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rainbow Daiquiris Hammond (14834 W. Thomas St.). Kiefer and host Mark Willoughby will talk all things Lion hoops weekly on 90.9 The Lion through March 5.  
 
The debut season of Inside Southeastern Baseball with Bobby Barbier begins Feb. 12 and will air every Monday at noon from WiseGuys Daiquiris (14372 University Ave.) in Hammond. Barbier and host Allen Waddell will talk all things Lion baseball weekly on 90.9 The Lion.
