HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field, men's golf, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, tennis and beach volleyball teams will all be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Southeastern indoor track and field teams will close out competition at the Southland Conference Championships this week. The SLC meet wraps up Monday in Birmingham, Alabama. The Lions are currently fifth heading into the final day, while the Lady Lions are in ninth in the standings.
 
The SLU golf team will open the spring portion of its 2023-24 schedule this week. Southeastern will be in New Orleans Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate.
 
The Southeastern men's (14-14, 9-6 SLC) and women's basketball (17-9, 13-2 SLC) teams will look to improve their respective seedings heading into the Southland Conference Tournament, scheduled for March 10-14 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, this week.
 
The Lady Lions open the week with a 6:30 p.m. game at UIW Thursday. Both teams will be in Corpus Christi, Texas for a doubleheader with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday. The women's game is set for 1 p.m. with the men's game following at 3:30 p.m.
 
The SLU baseball team (4-3) has a busy week with five games on tap. The Lions welcome Xavier of Louisiana Tuesday and Mississippi Valley State Wednesday. Both games are set for 6 p.m.
 
Every home Tuesday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field is a $2 Tuesday. Fans will receive $2 admission for general admission tickets and can enjoy $2 hotdogs. Wednesday is Youth Sports Night, as youth sports teams (8^th grade and lower) will receive free admission by wearing their team jersey. Young Lion fans can come out early and stand next to their favorite Lion during the national anthem.
 
The first 100 Southeastern students at both Tuesday and Wednesday's games will receive a student ticket to the March 6 game versus reigning national champion LSU.
 
Southeastern will then head to Greenville, North Carolina to compete in the Keith LeClair Classic. The Lions face Cal State Fullerton Friday at 11 a.m., take on Purdue Saturday at 10 a.m. and meet host East Carolina Sunday at noon.
 
The Lady Lion softball team (12-3) continues a 10-game road swing this week, heading to Oxford, Mississippi to compete in the Ole Miss Classic. SLU faces Kent State at 10:30 a.m. and the host Rebels at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday will see Southeastern face UAB at 1 p.m. and Ole Miss at 6 p.m. The Lady Lions wrap up the tournament Sunday at 10 a.m.
 
The Southeastern women's tennis team (5-4) carries a four-match winning streak into this week's action. SLU opens Southland Conference play Saturday, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 11 a.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The SLU beach volleyball team (1-3) will head to Thibodaux, Louisiana for a pair of matches Saturday. The Beach Lions will face Mary-Hardin Baylor at 12:30 p.m. and New Orleans at 4:30 p.m.
 
On the Air
Monday's SLC Indoor Championships, all of this week's men's and women's basketball action, as well as Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday's baseball games will be televised on ESPN+, while the softball games versus Ole Miss will air on SEC Network+. Thursday's women's basketball game, as well as Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday's baseball games can be heard in the Hammond area on 90.9 The Lion.
 
The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Baseball with Bobby Barbier airs Monday at noon from WiseGuys Daiquiris (14372 University Ave.) in Hammond. Barbier and host Allen Waddell will talk all things Lion baseball weekly on 90.9 The Lion.
 
The latest episode of "Inside Southeastern Basketball with David Kiefer" airs Tuesday at 7 p.m. on 90.9 The Lion, live from the Hammond location of Rainbow Daiquiris (14834 W. Thomas St.). The show will air Tuesdays at 7 p.m. through March 5 with Kiefer and host Mark Willoughby discussing all things Lion Basketball.
