Southeastern Close Pre-Southland Slate With Three In-State Nonconference Matches

SLU hosts Loyola (Tuesday, 5 p.m.) and Southern (Thursday, 4 p.m.), travels to Dillard (Sunday, 2 p.m.)

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team has three matches on tap this week to finish preparations for next week's Southland Conference opener.

SLU (2-4) opens the week with a 5 p.m. match versus Loyola (N.O.) at the Southeastern Tennis Complex. The Lions welcome Southern to Hammond Thursday for a 4 p.m. match, before heading to Dillard for a 2 p.m. contest Sunday.

Southeastern will be coming off an over week-long layoff. The Lions rallied for a 4-3 victory over Bryant Feb. 11. Singles wins by Leana Gomez, Kate Oborina, Bente Bierma and Panatchakorn Suanarsa keyed the victory for the Lions.

Bierma leads SLU with three singles victories, while Gomez, Oborina, Suanarsa and Taisia Bolsova have two wins each. In doubles play, Suanarsa and Bogi Cscordas have a team-best 4-2 mark on the No. 2 court.

Following this week's matches, SLU will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the SLC opener March 2 at 11 a.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
