Southeastern Hosts South Alabama, Travels To Texas A&M Tourney

SLU (8-1) opens busy week with a 5 p.m. home contest versus USA Tuesday

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team carries a three-game winning streak into a busy week that will see the Lady Lions play six nonconference games.
 
SLU (8-1) closes out a four-game home stand with a 5 p.m. contest versus South Alabama (7-2) Tuesday at North Oak Park. Tuesday's game will be televised on ESPN+.
 
The Lady Lions will then head to College Station, Texas to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational. Southeastern faces UTSA (2-8) Thursday at 11:30 a.m. and takes on the host Aggies (9-0) later in the day at 5:15 p.m. Thursday's game against Texas A&M can be seen on SEC Network+.
 
SLU will open Friday's action with an 11:30 a.m. contest versus St. Thomas (1-9), then matches up with North Dakota State (6-6) at 2 p.m. The Lady Lions' tournament slate wraps up with a 9 a.m. contest versus St. Thomas Saturday.
 
Southeastern was the lone undefeated team at this weekend's Lion Classic, earning wins over Syracuse, Maryland and Southeast Missouri.
 
The Lady Lions enter the week with a .386 team batting average. Ka'Lyn Watson leads the team with a .565 batting average, followed by Chloe Magee (.560), Bailey Krolczyk (.462) and Audrey Greely (.421).
 
Krolcyk and Lexi Johnson share the team lead with two home runs and two triples each. Krolczyk, who also leads the team with 11 RBI, and Maria Detillier both have two doubles.
 
Opponents are hitting .167 against a Southeastern pitching staff that enters the week with a 1.58 team earned run average. Ellie DuBois (4-0, 1.80 ERA), Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux (1-0, 1.32 ERA) and Cera Blanchard (2-0, 1.42 ERA, 1 save) have been the top arms for SLU.
 
South Alabama comes to Hammond with a .292 team batting average, led by Gabby Stagner (.500, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 4 2B, 2 3B). Olivia Lackie (5-1, 1.05 ERA) and Ryley Harrison (2-1, 1.24 ERA) are the top pitchers for USA, which has a 2.33 team ERA.
 
Jaylen Pritchard leads UTSA with a .320 batting average, while Camryn Robillard has a team-high four home runs for the Roadrunners. Jamie Gilbert (1-2, 2.49 ERA) and Kenzi Schultz (0-5, 5.42 ERA) have logged the most work in the circle for SLU's first tournament opponent.
 
Texas A&M has yet to be bested through nine games, hitting .330 as a team. Allie Enright has been one of the top hitters in the nation through the first two weekends, batting .609 with four doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI. Emiley Kennedy (4-0, 1.09 ERA, 2 saves) has been the leader of an Aggie staff that boasts a 1.72 team ERA.
 
St. Thomas' struggles have been buoyed by a challenging schedule that has included six Power 5 opponents. Ella Cook leads the Tommies with a .269 batting average, while Christina Crawford (0-4, 9.64 ERA) has been the team's most used pitcher.
 
North Dakota State is led at the plate by the duo of Bella Dean (.385, 2 HR, 8 RBI) and Reanna Rudd (.382, 2 HR, 7 RBI). Five different Bison pitchers have combined for a 3.21 team ERA, led by Savy Williams (1-2, 0.64 ERA, 1 save).
 
This week's trip will be the first of two weekends spent at an SEC host for SLU. Southeastern will head to Oxford, Mississippi to compete in the Ole Miss Classic March 1-3.
