HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field, beach volleyball, women's basketball, men's basketball, baseball, softball and tennis teams will all be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Southeastern indoor track and field teams will compete in the Southland Conference Championships this week. The SLC meet starts Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama and runs through next Monday, Feb. 26.
 
The SLU beach volleyball team will open the 2024 season this week, competing in the Tulane Invitational Friday and Saturday in New Orleans. Friday's schedule sees Southeastern take on Tulane at 8:30 a.m. and North Alabama at 11 a.m. The Beach Lions face Oregon at 11 a.m. and Spring Hill at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
 
The reigning Southland Conference champion Lady Lion women's basketball team (16-9, 12-2 SLC) will host New Orleans at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Pride Roofing University Center in a game sponsored by First Guaranty Bank. The Lady Lion senior class of Hailey Giaratano, Daija Harvey, Kennedy Paul and Dijone Flowers will be honored at halftime of the 3:30 p.m. men's game versus UNO, which is being sponsored by North Oaks Health System.
 
For the last Saturday home doubleheader of the 2023-24 regular season against the Privateers, SLU is offering free admission. Prior to Saturday's doubleheader, the Southeastern men's basketball team (13-13, 8-5 SLC) will put its six-game win streak on the line in a 6 p.m. contest versus Lamar Monday. Monday is Jersey Night in the Pride Roofing University Center and fans are encouraged to wear the jersey of their favorite athlete.
 
After taking two of three from Tarleton State in the first series of the season, the SLU baseball team (2-1) will hit the road for the first time this season. Wednesday will see the Lions travel to South Alabama for a 6:30 p.m. contest, before continuing on to UAB for a three-game series. The series opens Friday at 2 p.m., continues Saturday at 2 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
The Lady Lion softball team (8-1) closes out a four-game home stand with a 5 p.m. game versus South Alabama Tuesday in North Oak Park. Southeastern then heads to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Invitational. The Lady Lions will face UTSA at 11:30 a.m. and the host Aggies Thursday.
 
SLU moves on to face St. Thomas at 11:30 a.m. and North Dakota State at 2 p.m. Friday. Saturday's tournament finale versus St. Thomas is set for 9 a.m.
 
The Southeastern women's tennis team (2-4) closes out its pre-Southland Conference schedule with three matches this week. The Lions host Loyola (N.O.) Tuesday at 5 p.m., before welcoming Southern to the Southeastern Tennis Complex for a 4 p.m. match Thursday. SLU heads to Dillard Sunday for a 2 p.m. contest.

All of this week's basketball action and Wednesday, Friday and Sunday's baseball games will be televised on ESPN+ and will be heard in the Hammond area on 90.9 The Lion. Tuesday's softball game and the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships will air on ESPN+, while Thursday's softball game at Texas A&M will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
 
The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Baseball with Bobby Barbier airs Monday at noon from WiseGuys Daiquiris (14372 University Ave.) in Hammond. Barbier and host Allen Waddell will talk all things Lion baseball weekly on 90.9 The Lion.
 
The latest episode of "Inside Southeastern Basketball with David Kiefer" airs Tuesday at 7 p.m. on 90.9 The Lion, live from the Hammond location of Rainbow Daiquiris (14834 W. Thomas St.). The show will air Tuesdays at 7 p.m. through March 5 with Kiefer and host Mark Willoughby discussing all things Lion Basketball.
