HAMMOND, La. – After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University softball team to a 5-0 start at the Mardi Gras Mambo, senior catcher Bailey Krolczyk was named the season's first Southland Conference Hitter of the Week in an announcement from the league office Monday.
 
Krolczyk earned her third career SLC weekly honor Monday. The Corpus Christi, Texas native twice won the award in 2023.
 
The reigning Southland Conference Player and Hitter of the Year picked up right where she left off in her historic junior campaign. She was third on the team with a .533 batting average during the opening weekend while leading the team with two home runs, nine RBI, two doubles, two triples, a 1.333 slugging percentage, a 1.896 OPS and five runs scored.
 
Krolczyk helped Southeastern to five shutout victories to open the season. The five consecutive shutouts set a new school record for the Lady Lions.
 
Southeastern will close out a six-game road swing to open the season Wednesday with a 5 p.m. contest at Louisiana Tech.
