Women's basketball opens SLC play; Men's basketball wraps up nonconference slate

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team opens Southland Conference play, while the SLU men's basketball team wraps up its nonconference slate during this week in Southeastern Athletics.

The Lady Lions (6-3) open the SLC portion of its schedule with a pair of road contests against in-state league foes. SLU heads to Nicholls for a 6:30 p.m. contest Wednesday in Thibodaux. McNeese awaits Southeastern Saturday for a 1 p.m. Southland matchup in Lake Charles.

The SLU men's basketball team (4-6, 0-1 SLC) wraps up a stretch of 10 consecutive games away from home with a 6 p.m. contest at Grambling Monday. Southeastern hosts Loyola (N.O.) Friday at 6 p.m. in the University Center. Fans are encouraged to wear their ugly Christmas sweaters to cheer on the Lions Friday.
