Csordas, Bolsova Lead SLU at Joe Pyburn Invitational

SLU looks to close fall on high note at this week's George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational

BEAUMONT, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana University was led by the doubles tandem of Bogi Csordas and Taisia Bolsova at this weekend's Joe Pyburn Invitational, hosted by Lamar.

Csordas and Bolsova picked up two wins in the women's doubles "C" draw in a weather-shortened tournament. Finding the right doubles combinations has been a primary goal this fall for Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes.

"We know how important the doubles point will be for us this spring," Hayes commented. "When we win the doubles point, we win the match more often than not. We've been using this fall to try some different teams together to find the right balance for doubles success."

The Lion duo earned a 6-3 victory over the Lamar pairing of Savannah Bijlsma and Emma Palus. Later in the weekend, Csordas and Bolsova took down the Northwestern State pair of Zoi Spyrou and Valeria Ortega.

Singles play was rained out Sunday, but a pair of Lions were able to pick up singles victories this week. Leana Gomez opened the tournament with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Sofia Garcia of NSU. SLU freshman Aitana Darder was too much for LSU-Alexandria's Kanupriya Rajawat in a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Southeastern will look to close out the fall on a high note, when it hosts the George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
