HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University soccer team will participate in the Southland Conference Championships, the basketball teams tip off their 2024-25 teams, the football team celebrates Senior Day, the volleyball team closes its regular season home schedule and the tennis team hosts its final tournament of the fall during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Southeastern soccer team (6-8-2, 5-4-1 SLC) will open the SLC Tournament with a 1 p.m. first round game versus Northwestern State Tuesday in Corpus Christi, Texas. Should the Lady Lions get past the Lady Demons, they will play the winner of Tuesday's first-round match between Stephen F. Austin and UTRGV in Thursday's semifinals at 4 p.m.
 
Sunday's championship game kicks off at 1:05 p.m. with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
 
The SLU men's and women's basketball teams officially open their respective seasons with a doubleheader Monday in the University Center. The Lady Lions open the night's action with a 5:30 p.m. game versus Millsaps, while William Carey takes on the Lions at 7:30 p.m.
 
Lion Slam will be held in conjunction with Monday's twin bill, as fans can enjoy halftime contests and giveaways. Freshmen Tyreona Sibley and Jaslynn Walter will be Monday's Spotlight Players of the Game for the women's contest and the first 150 fans will receive trading cards featuring the Lady Lion newcomers, courtesy of PRIDE.
 
The Lady Lions will then head to Nebraska for a 1 p.m. contest Saturday, while the Lions open their road schedule at UAB Sunday at 2 p.m.
 
The Lion football team (5-5, 4-1 SLC) will close out its regular season home schedule Saturday, hosting Northwestern State for a 6 p.m. Southland contest in Strawberry Stadium. Saturday will be Senior Day, as the senior class of Donte' Daniels, Khamron Ford, Coryell Pierce, Keydrain Calligan, Darius Lewis, Errol Rogers Jr., Ivan Drobocky, Shemar Pearl, Warren Peeples, Brockhim Wicks, Javin Turner, Jhy Orgeron and Austin Kent will be honored in a pregame ceremony approximately 30 minutes before Saturday's game.
 
The contest versus the Demons will also be Military Appreciation Night. All military personnel with valid ID can present their ID at gate 2 to receive a free general admission ticket.
 
The Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office will be collecting nonperishable food items for the Southeastern Food Pantry. Fans can donate 2-3 food items at the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office prior to Saturday's game versus visiting NSU in exchange for a general admission ticket to the contest. No exchanges will be made on game day. The SLU Ticket Office is located on the west side of Strawberry Stadium and is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. – noon.
 
The reigning SLC champion Southeastern volleyball team (20-4, 12-0 SLC) will look to extend its 20-match winning streak with its final two regular season home matches of the season this week. SLU will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Dig the Lions promotion will be held in conjunction with Thursday's match, as Southeastern students will receive free t-shirts.
 
UTRGV visits the University Center Saturday for a noon match. Saturday is also Family Day.
 
The SLU tennis team closes out its fall schedule this week. The Lions will host the George E. Fourmaux Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.  
 
On the Air
All of this week's soccer, men's basketball, football and volleyball action, as well as Monday's women's basketball contest will air on ESPN+. Saturday's women's basketball game will air on Big Ten Plus.
 
Saturday's football game will be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM). This week's men's basketball and volleyball contests, as well as Monday's women's basketball game can be heard on 90.9 The Lion. Streaming audio of 90.9 The Lion broadcasts is available online, at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive or www.LionUpRadio.org, or through the following apps - Lions' Gameday, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio.
 
The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo airs Monday at 7 p.m. from Brady's in downtown Hammond. The show will air on Mondays throughout the season with Scelfo and host Allen Waddell discussing all things Lion Football on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
 
Tangi Tourism's Carla Tate will be the Community Spotlight guest for Monday's show.
