HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University Director of Sport Performance Kyle Vagher has signed a three-year contract to remain with the Lions, SLU Director of Athletics Jay Artigues announced Friday.
Vagher's contract extension is pending approval of the University of Louisiana System's Board of Supervisors. The Fayetteville, Georgia native has excelled as the leader of Southeastern's strength and condition program.
"Kyle is without question the best I've been around and I couldn't be more excited about signing him to this contract," Artigues said. "He literally has a hand in working with every student-athlete to improve their overall performances, so his position is one of the most vital in our department. This contract shows not only our commitment to Kyle, but to all of the student-athletes he has a positive impact on every day."
One of the programs that Vagher has worked daily since arriving on campus in January 2022 is the SLU football program. Two-time Southland Conference Coach of the Year Frank Scelfo understands the importance of Vagher's contributions to the Lions' success.
"Kyle brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to everything he does for our program," Scelfo commented. "He does such a great job building a relationship with our players and uses that bond to motivate them to do things they didn't know they could do."
Vagher came to Hammond after spending three seasons at Texas State, where he worked with the Bobcat football program. Prior to his time in San Marcos, he had stints at ULM and California. He earned a spot on the Georgia football team as a senior and graduated with a degree in sport management in 2015, before earning his master's degree in exercise science from ULM in 2017.
