Lagan, Pitarro Both Set Personal Bests at NCAA South-Central Regional

Runners End Season with New Top Times

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana University cross country team members Ava Pitarro and Euan Lagan both ended their 2024 season on a high note, setting new personal bests at the NCAA Division I South-Central Regional Championship Friday morning at the Watts Cross Country Course on the campus of Texas A&M.
 
Pitarro, a sophomore from Walker, La., was up first and had a 6K course in front of her. She ran the route in 23:20.9, besting her previous fastest time in the 6K by three seconds. That time was good enough for a 175th place finish in the competition.
 
Lagan, a graduate from Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland, faced just the second 10K he's run as a Lion. Her finished in 31:53.6, besting his 10K time from last year's NCAA South-Central Regional by more than 20 seconds while his 82nd place finish put him in the top-half of all racers who eventually crossed the finish line.
 
With the 2024 cross country season now complete for all Southeastern runners, the track and field Lions and Lady Lions take center stage. The SLU indoor track & field season begins on Jan. 12 at the LSU Purple Tiger invitational meet. Field events start at 10:30 a.m. with the women's weight throw while the running events start 1 p.m. with the men's 60-meter hurdles. The LSU Purple Tiger will take place at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse on the LSU campus.
