HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football, volleyball and soccer teams look to build on last week's 5-0 combined Southland Conference record, while the tennis and softball teams continue fall play during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The SLU football team (2-4, 1-0 SLC) opened conference play with a 21-9 home victory over Texas A&M-Commerce and opens its SLC road slate this week. The Lions will head to HCU Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest. Southeastern is looking for its seventh 2-0 start to Southland play. SLU advanced to the NCAA FCS playoffs in each of the past four seasons in which it got off to a 2-0 conference start.
 
After earning a pair of Southland road wins last week, the reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern indoor volleyball team (12-4, 4-0 SLC) heads into a busy home week riding a 12-match win streak. New Orleans visits the University Center Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. contest. Tuesday is the Think Pink match and fans are encouraged to wear their pink to help the Lady Lions support breast cancer awareness.
 
SLU will turn back the clock for Throwback Night in the UC. Fans will be able to enjoy their favorite 70's and 80's jams as Southeastern takes on Nicholls at 6:30 p.m. All Lady Lion Volleyball campers are encouraged to wear their SLU camp t-shirts for Camp Reunion Day in conjunction with Saturday's noon conference match versus McNeese.
 
The Lady Lion soccer team (5-5-1, 4-1 SLC) will attempt to build on two of its biggest wins under head coach Nathan Gillespie last week. SLU took down two-time reigning SLC champion Lamar, 2-1, Friday and followed that up with a 2-1 victory over first-place Northwestern State Sunday.
 
Southeastern will be back on the road this week. The Lady Lions open the week with a 7 p.m. match at Stephen F. Austin before heading to Nicholls for a 5 p.m. contest Sunday.
 
Members of the SLU women's tennis team will head to Auburn, Alabama to compete in the ITA Regional Wednesday through Saturday.
 
The reigning SLC Tournament champion Southeastern softball team will continue its fall exhibition schedule this week. SLU welcomes Pearl River Community College to town for a 10-inning exhibition Wednesday at 6 p.m. at North Oak Park.
 
On the Air
All of this week's football, indoor volleyball and soccer action will air on ESPN+. Saturday's football game will be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).

The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo airs Monday at 7 p.m. from Brady's in downtown Hammond. The show will air on Mondays throughout the season with Scelfo and host Allen Waddell discussing all things Lion Football on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
 
Northshore Media Group Vice President and General Manager Brian Shirey will be the Community Spotlight guest for Monday's show.
