Hed Claims Southland Monthly Honors

SLU freshman posted a 70.4 stroke average in first collegiate competition

HAMMOND, La. – After shooting under par in his first two collegiate tournaments, Southeastern Louisiana University freshman Viggo Hed was named the Southland Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for September in an announcement from the league office Monday.
 
The Halmstad, Sweden native was recognized after posting a 70.4 stroke average over five rounds. Hed shot under par in three of his rounds to start the 2024-25 campaign.
 
In the season-opening Grover Page Classic that was shortened to two rounds due to weather, Hed carded rounds of 66 and 71 to finish seven-under par and in a tie for third place. Earlier this week at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, Hed shot a final round 68 to finish -1 for the tournament and in a tie for 27th place.
 
Hed and the Lions will return to action Oct. 21-22 at the LaTour Intercollegiate in Mathews, Louisiana.
 
The 31st Annual Homecoming Golf Scramble presented by Tangi Tourism and Hampton Inn is scheduled for Oct. 18 at 8:30 a.m. at Oak Knoll Country Club in Hammond and all proceeds benefit the SLU golf program. Registration information is available by visiting https://lionsports.net/sports/laa.
