HAMMOND, La. – The 2024 Southland Conference Individual Tennis Championships will run Thursday through Sunday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The tournament, also known as the Southland Fall Masters, will feature single-elimination singles and doubles tournaments involving all of the league's men's and women's tennis programs.
 
The individual champions will qualify for the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championship Nov. 7-10. From this, four players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (semifinalists). Meanwhile, three doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the Conference Masters (champion, finalist, third place).  
 
Sophomore Leana Gomez will represent Southeastern in the women's singles bracket. The Miami product will face NJIT's Paula Menendez Alvarez in the first round Thursday at 5 p.m.
 
In doubles play, the SLU duo of Bente Bierma and Panatchakorn Suanarsa will open tournament play with a 2 p.m. match Thursday versus the McNeese pairing of Erica Hagi and Ana Hollweg. Bierma and Suanarsa recently won the "A" doubles draw at last weekend's Dillard Invitational.
