HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football and volleyball teams will look to maintain their respective undefeated Southland Conference records, the soccer team celebrates Senior Day, the tennis team hosts the inaugural Southland Masters, while the golf and softball teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The Southeastern football team (4-4, 3-0 SLC) will look to claim sole possession of the SLC lead Saturday, when it hosts No. 13/14 UIW at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium in a battle of the last two teams without a conference loss.
Saturday's game versus UIW will also be a Gold Out, as fans are encouraged to wear their best gold Southeastern gear to the contest. The game versus the Cardinals will be Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day. Southeastern faculty and staff can present their ID at the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office to receive a free general admission ticket for SLU's matchup with the Cardinals. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. – noon.
The reigning Southland Conference champion SLU indoor volleyball team (17-4, 9-0 SLC) will look to extend its 17-match win streak this week. The Lady Lions head to HCU for a 6:30 p.m. Southland Conference match Thursday.
The Lady Lion soccer team (6-7-1, 5-3 SLC) closes out the regular season with a pair of league home matches this week. New Southland member UTRGV visits Strawberry Stadium for a 7 p.m. match Friday. Friday will also be Alumni Day, as former Lady Lions in attendance will be honored at halftime.
Sunday will see SLU host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. Prior to the regular season finale, Southeastern will honor the senior class of Anna Blankenship, Sara Bancevic, Hailie Yoder, Hannah McCord, Katie Brown, Halli Roe, Haylii Roe, Nicole O'Neill and Kelsey Fuller in a Senior Day ceremony.
The inaugural Southland Conference Masters will come to the Southeastern Tennis Complex this week. The single-elimination men's and women's tennis doubles championships run Thursday through Sunday.
The Southeastern golf team will return to the course this week. The Lions will travel to Mathews, Louisiana to compete in the LaTour Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday.
The reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion SLU softball team closes out its fall slate with three 10-inning exhibitions this week. Southeastern hosts Hinds Community College Monday at 5 p.m., travels to LSU for a 6 p.m. contest Wednesday and hosts Copiah-Lincoln Community College Friday at 5 p.m.
