HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team improved to 2-0 this fall with a 14-4, 10-inning exhibition victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Wednesday evening at North Oak Park.
 
The Lady Lions collected 17 hits on the night. Lainee Bailey led SLU at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBI. Shenita Tucker, Chloe Magee, Colleen Kulivan and Maddie Leal each recorded two hits apiece. Bailey, Brilee Broussard and Maddie Watson all scored two runs apiece for Southeastern.
 
Eight different SLU pitchers combined to hold the visitors to eight hits over 10 innings. Allison Brunson and Britney Lewinski each tossed two scoreless innings each. Lewinski led the Lady Lions with three strikeouts, as the Southeastern arms combined for eight strikeouts on the night.
 
Friday's scheduled scrimmage versus Hinds Community College has been rescheduled for Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. SLU will return to action Oct. 9, hosting Pearl River Community College at 6 p.m. for a 10-inning exhibition.
 
The fall schedule also includes visits from Coastal Alabama Community College (Oct. 16, 5 p.m.), University of Arkansas at Rich Mountain (Oct. 18, 5 p.m.) and Copiah-Lincoln Community College (Oct. 25, 5 p.m.). The Lady Lions will also visit LSU Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. All fall games will be 10-inning exhibitions.
