HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team won its fourth straight scrimmage to open the fall, defeating Coastal Alabama Community College, 8-4, in a 10-inning exhibition Wednesday evening at North Oak Park.
 
The Lady Lions collected 16 hits in Wednesday's win. Maddie Watson, Lainee Bailey, Colleen Kulivan, Blair Walsh and Cydnee Schneider each had two hits apiece for SLU.
 
Kulivan and Chloe Magee led Southeastern with two RBI each. Shelby Morris and Shenita Tucker each scored a team-high two runs.
 
All eight Southeastern pitchers saw action, combining to hold the visitors to eight hits and striking out nine Coastal Alabama CC batters. Bailey, Leah Marshall, Hallie Burns, Britney Lewinski and Macie LaRue each had scoreless outings. Burns, LaRue and Celia Lamkin each had two strikeouts apiece.
 
Southeastern will be back in action Friday, hosting Arkansas Rich Mountain for a 10-inning 5 p.m. exhibition at North Oak Park.
