HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track and field teams open their indoor season, while the SLU men's and women's basketball teams look to continue their undefeated starts to Southland Conference play during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Lions and Lady Lions will open the 2024 indoor track and field campaign Friday. Southeastern will head to Baton Rouge to compete in the LSU Purple Tiger meet at 11 a.m.
 
The SLU men's basketball team (6-8, 1-0 SLC) carries a four-game winning streak into a pair of Southland Conference road contests this week. The Lions will open the week with a 6:30 p.m. contest Monday at Nicholls. Southeastern travels to McNeese for a 4 p.m. contest Saturday.
 
The reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern women's basketball team (6-7, 2-0 SLC) opens the home portion of its schedule with a 6 p.m. game versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday in the Pride Roofing University Center.
 
Southeastern Athletics is excited to kick off the new year Thursday and fans can help celebrate by wearing their freshest kicks. Dijone' Flowers is Thursday's Spotlight Player of the Game and the first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring Flowers, courtesy of PRIDE. The Lady Lions close out the week with a 1 p.m. league matchup Saturday at McNeese

All of this week's basketball action will be televised on ESPN+ and will be heard in the Hammond area on 90.9 The Lion.
 
The latest episode of "Inside Southeastern Basketball with David Kiefer" airs Tuesday at 7 p.m. on 90.9 The Lion, live from the Hammond location of Rainbow Daiquiris (14834 W. Thomas St.). The show will air Tuesdays at 7 p.m. through March 5 with Kiefer and host Mark Willoughby discussing all things Lion Basketball.
