HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field team heads to Louisiana's capitol city on Friday to start its indoor season, taking part in the LSU Purple Tiger meet at the Carl Maddox Field House.
 
Friday will mark the fifth-straight year where the Lions will open its January in Baton Rouge at the LSU Purple Tiger. Several Southeastern athletes will be looking to make immediate impacts nationally as they look to put up marks that will position them into the conversation for Nationals on the season's first day.
 
Coming off of his performance at the Athletics World Championships over the summer, Slavko Stevic is set for a big year in the high jump where no record will be safe as he begins to ramp up for a run at a possible performance at the Summer Olympics in Paris. In Baton Rouge, he'll also try to show off his skills on the track as he's currently slated to run in the 60-meter dash. Stevic is SLU's lone returning indoor conference champion from 2023 set to compete on Friday.
 
Terrell Webb looks to continue to make his mark in the Southeastern program as he opens his season in the weight throw.
 
Javon-Taye Williams and Olu Ogunyemi are set to join Stevic in a crowded field in the men's 60-meter dash which have nine other Lions set to run alongside them. Indya Jackson and Alexandra Cleveland are set to lead a pack of nine Lady Lions in the women's 60-meter dash.
 
While the day's action starts at 10:30 a.m., SLU's first set of events begin at 1 p.m. with men's weight throw, the prelims of the men's 60-meter hurdles, and both the men's and women's long jump.
