Glorioso, Dorr Lead Lions on Opening Day of Grover Page Classic

SLU pair post under-par scores in the opening round

JACKSON, Tenn. – Southeastern Louisiana University's Grayson Glorioso and Griffin Dorr were the top performers for the Lion golf team on the opening day of the Grover Page Classic Monday at the Jackson Country Club.
 
Southeastern shot an even-par 288 over the first 18 holes and finished the day with a two-round score of 582 (+6). The Lions head into Tuesday's final round in 10th place in the team standings.
 
Glorioso, the lone senior on the Lion roster, opened the day with a three-under par 69. The Metairie, Louisiana native was fifth among the entire field with 11 birdies Monday and finished one-under par over the first 36 holes, which was good for a tie for 16th place.
 
Dorr, who is one of five players making his SLU debut in Jackson, was the round one leader after firing a 67 over the initial 18 holes. The Covington, Louisiana native was seven-under after the front nine and was one of 12 players in the field with multiple eagles on Monday. Dorr heads into Tuesday's final round tied for 31st (+1).
 
Lexton Ford (+2, T38th) and Patrick Blaum (+6, T66th) both shot even par in round two. Freshman Ethan Dial (+12, 83rd) rounded out the SLU starting five, while fellow freshmen Landen East (+1, T31rd) and Nicholas Wall (+16, 88th) competed as individuals.
 
Tournament host UT Martin finished 19-under par to hold a four-stroke lead after the first two rounds. Missouri State's Hampus Wilkstrom (-12) heads into Tuesday up three strokes in the individual standings.
 
Southeastern will be paired with Southland Conference foes for Tuesday's final round that tees off at 8:15 a.m. Live scoring, provided by the host Skyhawks, will be accessible via the golf schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
