HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team opens up its Southland Conference and home schedule, while the volleyball, soccer and golf teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The reigning SLC champion Southeastern football team (0-3) will host league foe HCU Saturday at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. For the home opener, SLU will hold a Green Out, as all fans are encouraged to wear green. 2023 also marks the 20^th anniversary of the return of football to Southeastern. All members of the 2003 team are invited to be recognized at Saturday's home opener. The reigning Southland tournament champion SLU volleyball team (9-4, 0-1 SLC) will close out a 12-match road swing with a pair of conference matches this week. SLU will head to UIW Thursday for a 6 p.m. match, before traveling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a noon match Saturday.
 
The Lady Lion soccer team (2-6, 0-1 SLC) will open a three-match home stand this week. Southeastern will host UIW Sunday at 1 p.m. The first 50 fans in attendance at Strawberry Stadium will receive a custom SLU soccer scarf.
 
The SLU men's golf team will open its 2023-24 schedule this week. The Lions will be in Jackson, Tennessee Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Grover Page Classic. Live scoring, provided by UTM, will be available via the golf schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
 
On the Air
The Southeastern football game at South Alabama will be televised on ESPN+ and can also be heard on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM. Both of this week's volleyball matches and Sunday's soccer contest will also be televised on ESPN+.
 
The 2023 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo continues Monday at 7 p.m. at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux (305 CM Fagan Dr.). The weekly show will air each Monday during the football season on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM. Champagne Beverage will be featured as Monday's Community Spotlight guest.
