HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football and soccer teams will both open their respective home schedules in September and SLU Athletics has plenty of off-the-field activities planned for the coming month.
 
In conjunction with the soccer team's Sept. 10 home opener at 5 p.m. versus Jackson State, fans will have the opportunity to get autographs postgame from their favorite Lady Lions.
 
Southeastern Athletics will participate in the university-wide Giving Day Sept. 13. Giving Day is an opportunity to support your favorite causes at Southeastern both academically and athletically. Lion and Lady Lion fans can support anyone of Southeastern's 16 Division I sports, as well as the national champion SLU cheerleaders and Lionette dance team, sports medicine, sport performance and KSLU Radio.
 
The reigning Southland Conference champion SLU football team will open its home schedule Sept. 23, hosting SLC rival HCU at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Southeastern will hold a Green Out, as all fans are encouraged to wear green.
 
2023 also marks the 20^th anniversary of the return of football to Southeastern. All members of the 2003 team are invited to be recognized at the 2023 home opener Sept. 23. The first 50 fans in attendance at Southeastern's Sept. 24 soccer game versus UIW at 1 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium will receive a custom SLU soccer scarf.
 
The Sept. 29 soccer match versus Texas A&M-Commerce will be the Alumni Game. All former Lady Lion soccer student-athletes will be honored at halftime of the 7 p.m. contest.
 
The Lion football team will host Tarleton State for a 3 p.m. nonconference game Sept. 30. In conjunction with the contest, fans are encouraged to wear gold to help Gold Out Strawberry Stadium.
 
The 2023 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo continues on at its new home – Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux (305 CM Fagan Dr) in Hammond – in September. The hour-long radio show will air weekly Mondays at 7 p.m. throughout the football season on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM.
